Grace Marquette

Grace Marquette

Grace M. Marquette, 98, was peacefully called home to Jesus, surrounded by family on April 29, 2023. Affectionately known by her family as “Grammy,” she was greatly loved by all who knew her.

Born on November 2, 1924, in Portage, she was the daughter of the late David and Catherine (Enderlein) Cully, and the widow of Robert H. Marquette, who passed in 2003. She was a member of the Myerstown High School Class of 1942 and a graduate of Lebanon Valley College.

Grace was a great lover of music. She and her husband purchased Loser’s Music in Lebanon in 1954, and the business remains in the family today. She loved her store so much that she continued to work even into her 90s, with the admiration and respect of her family for her tenacity, work ethic, and ambition. A talented singer, she encouraged her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to pursue music as well, fostering their talents and instilling a love of music. Grammy could be found at every concert, recital, and performance and sporting event where she beamed proudly as she supported the ones she loved the most.

Active in her church and community, Grace was a proud member of Zion United Methodist Church in Myerstown, singing in the choir for 75 years and serving as the president of the Z.U.M. Women. She was an active member of the Myerstown Woman’s Club for 70 years and served as the president for six years. Grace enjoyed being part of the Mount Gretna Mass Choir every summer, and an anthem “Gospel of Grace” was commissioned to honor her support.

Grace loved to play pinochle with her friends, go on cruises with her family, travel and dine out. She had an active social life and was a Peer Mentor at Juniper Village during her time there.

Grace was an incredible woman - brilliant, funny, charming, kind, loving, spunky and generous beyond measure. Her family and her faith were of the utmost importance to her. She was a woman whose spirit will live on for ages and has left a lasting mark on those who knew and loved her. She will be missed every day, but remembered and loved eternally.
